Our specialist outlook.
We are focused purely on the operations and core banking systems sector. Indeed, we do not have a direct competitor, so we are usually viewed as the definitive company in this space. On occasions, we have partnered with larger consultancies, including Gartner and McKinsey, to provide the specialist back office systems expertise on their projects. Our in-depth knowledge.
We have focused on this sector for almost 20 years, starting with our specialist publications (our reports are often used as a starting point for selections in their own right), with our events (we also provide keynote speakers for third party events) and consultancy. We spend all of our time looking at the back office sector, talking to banks, suppliers and other relevant parties. This means we have unprecedented insights into the issues, drivers, and lessons, know the strengths and weaknesses of the suppliers and systems, and are also in a prime position to help with aspects of selections such as identifying gaps, areas for focus with particular suppliers and relevant reference sites.

Our independence.
We have no tie-ups with any suppliers. Moreover, we do not do systems implementations. This is a strategic decision that means we provide a completely unbiased service, with no eye on the subsequent project. We strongly believe that there is value in having separate selection and implementation partners. Our people – In-house and Beyond.
Unlike some consulting firms, every IBS consultant has a wealth of experience in banking and/or core systems. If IBS does not have a specialist skill in-house, our many contacts and pool of associates means we can invariably source this. Our in-house expertise includes one consultant with the Institute of Islamic Banking and Insurance (IIBI)’s post-graduate diploma in Islamic banking and insurance. We have a strong relationship with the IIBI, which provides us with access to detailed Shari’ah banking scholars, complementing IBS’s own Islamic banking expertise. Our track-record.
IBS has never had a dissatisfied consultancy client. Indeed, we pride ourselves on exceeding customer expectations. All customers can be referenced. They include tier one to tier four banks, vendors and consultants across a wide range of geographies (as far as Australia) and highly strategic work, including overall systems strategy and architecture reviews to a broad number of selections. We have proven selection and market research templates and methodologies, including scoring models, and adopt best practices throughout.
Cost-effective.
Due to the strengths set out above, we hit the ground running when starting a project. As a result, IBS can deliver its services and knowledge in a much shorter timeframe than can generalist consultants.
