Third Financial goes public with Itex partnership

London-based wealth management solutions vendor, Third Financial Software, has gone public on the details of its joint venture with Itex, an IT services provider based in the Channel Islands. The partnership sees the launch of the former's Tercero platform on an outsourced basis. Jersey-based DPZ Capital, Third Financial's existing client, is the first live site for the new hosted platform.

Wipro and HP go head-to-head for Corporation Bank contract

Two integrators, Wipro and HP, are believed to be going head-to-head for the contract to replace the core banking system at India-based Corporation Bank. The public sector bank is a long-standing user of the LaserPanacea system from Polaris, but is looking to move its 1600 branches to a new platform, which is likely to be either TCS Financial Solutions' Bancs or Infosys' Finacle.

Misys delivery channel u-turn brings partnership with IND

If you can't beat them, buy them or partner with them: this now seems to be the approach of core banking systems suppliers when it comes to channel delivery. Misys has gone the partner route, signing with Hungary-based specialist, IND, which means a change of focus from its own Retail Portal and previous partnerships.

Bank Central Asia (BCA) has become an early adopter of fully automated anti-money laundering (AML) software in Indonesia and the wider region. The bank is replacing its legacy, largely manual system with the Actimize AML Suspicious Activity Monitoring and Watch List Filtering solutions from NICE Actimize.

Madrid-based private bank, Banco Alcalá, has gone live with a new core banking platform from Swiss vendor Avaloq. As the bank's parent, Crèdit Andorrà Group, is on the global expansion trail, further projects are expected to follow for the supplier.

Switzerland-based IT integration company Swisscom IT Services, is in the finalisation stages of its acquisition of the IT outsourcing business of Entris Banking. It will now offer business process outsourcing (BPO) to banks on both Finnova and Avaloq platforms.

Omgeo makes progress in Indonesia

Omgeo has gained a strong foothold in Indonesia with two live clients for its Omgeo Central Trade Manager (CTM) central matching solution, and two ongoing implementations that are expected to go live before the end of the year. PT Schroders, the country's largest investment manager, is the vendor's flagship customer here.

London Stock Exchange outlines plans for Gatelab

London Stock Exchange (LSE) has outlined its plans for the Italian trading solutions provider, Gatelab, which was acquired at the end of last year. Antoine Shagoury, COO at LSE, says that the company will be developed through a joint R&D process, and will co-exist with LSE's MillenniumIT business. Global expansion is also on the agenda for Gatelab.

Top 20 financial services deals from 01 February to 28 February 2013

The Lowlands was the surprise headline region regarding financial services M&A deals in February. The Netherlands' government nationalized embattled bank, SNS Reaal to the tune of GBP 1.9bn, plus an additional GBP 810m and GBP 930m in respective capitalisation of its real estate management and write downs. The deal ensures SNNS Reaal avoids bankruptcy and is yet another in a long line of European banking bailouts seen over the last four years.

Phase two of Tosan implementation underway at Khavar Mianeh Bank

Following the recent go-live of the Negin Plus core offering from domestic vendor Tosan, Khavar Mianeh Bank in Iran has moved into the second phase of its IT project. Stage two involves the deployment of virtual channels and card payments switch. The start-up is midway through this venture and hopes all channels will be live by the end of March 2013, but the project hasn't been without its frustrations.
